Bishops of Mozambique gather for plenary assembly in Maputo as Cardinal Parolin visits

The Episcopal Conference of Mozambique (CEM) has said that Cardinal Pietro Parolin will visit Mozambique this week. The visit is being seen as a gesture of reassurance and closeness by the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, given the ongoing insurgency in the restive Cabo Delgado Province. Attacks by Islamist militants have displaced thousands and caused the deaths of many innocent civilians. CEM’s plenary assembly will also take place during this period.
